LeeCARES supports Down Home Ranch Dash ‘n Splash with Communications

LeeCARES was proud to be part for the first time to the Down Home Ranch’s Dash ‘n Splash event on June 3, 2023. We provided communications for the 1 K and the 3 K Runs concerning any medical issues, runners struggling and needing assistance, or any logistics issues. We insured communications from the course to organizers, and the paramedic nurse while training with interops frequencies with ranch personnel and volunteers.

LeeCARES deployed the EmComm trailer and members with mobile units set through the trail. We communicated using VHF radios and used other radios  to monitor NOAA stations and computers to look at the weather radar. Once all runners had safely passed the finish line, we demonstrated our ARES EmComm Trailer HF capabilities by successfully deploying the HF antenna and making contact with Arizona, Kentucky, and Colorado, working the Special Event “USS Montrose” located in Montrose, CO. The ship operated in WWII, Korea and Vietnam before being decommissioned in 1970. 

We were honored to be part of this event, which was successful and fun.
