LeeCARES Monthly Meeting, May 17, 2026

The meeting focused on technical and operational updates for the Lee Co ARES group, including discussions about antenna installations, equipment maintenance, and upcoming exercises. A director’s going to set up a new RMS station. Members talked about antenna positioning and frequencies, and planning a trailer maintenance day scheduled for May 27th. The group reviewed upcoming deployment early June with TDEM and an upcoming exercise including a TDEM field deployment on June 20th where members will report field observations using Winlink. A simplex net is scheduled by WC-ARES for June 14th at 8:30 PM and LeeCARES members are invited. Technical discussions covered antenna tuning issues, code plug standardization for radios, and insurance renewals, while the group also addressed net control responsibilities and the need for more members to practice as net controllers. Finally, the group discussed a new kind of net simulating real emergencies to be rolled in the next six months.
