LeeCARES Monthly Meeting, October 20, 2024

Lee County ARES met at the Lee County EOC. It was announced the donation to the group of handheld radios from the Blue Volunteer Fire Department and the arrival of a duplexer for the repeater for the trailer. After a short business meeting, we discussed the After Action Reports on our participation to the October 2024 WC-ARES SET, the Great Shake-Out Exercise, and of our participation to Giddings Cars and Coffee on October 19, in which we stimulated interested in ARES and Ham Radios, but also in preparedness in general.

We discussed problems to login into  the EOC computers experienced last week, the welcome new Internet service, and finally we reviewed the draft of the EAP for the Lee Co ARES SET exercise to be executed in November. We welcomed two visitors who are interested to become members. We also discussed new cooperation with the Blue Volunteer Fire Department in training and preparing together for disasters. We also discussed out new relationship with the Giddings Police Department during SKYWARN Nets and, possibly, to add ham radios in their dispatch room.

Decisions were made to purchase of new equipment and to sell a radio that is in the process of being replaced.
