LeeCARES June Monthly Meeting
LeeCARES (Lee County Amateur Radio Emergency Service) members met on June 15, 2019 at a private residence of a long time amateur radio operator and ARES member Tom Whiteside, N5TW, in a nearby county to look at and discuss the towers, antennas, repeaters, digipiters, cables, radios, communications software and everything that is needed for HF and VHF/UHF emergency communications and DXing. The equipment we saw helped Mexico communicate during the recent fires and during the earthquake a few years ago, and saved a life in Puerto Rico in the wake of the Hurricane Maria. It was a very educational trip and gave Lee County ARES members many ideas to develop ARES in our own Lee County. The field trip ended with an excellent lunch at a nearby restaurant. Thank You N5TW for a wonderful tour and for sharing so much knowledge with us!
