Blue VFD SpringFest April 23, 2022

Lee County ARES participated in the annual Blue VFD SpringFest for the first time. Members displayed their mobile setups, three VHF/UHF and two HF rigs that were able to successfully check in the Lee County repeaters as well two of the Williamson County repeaters. Members were also able to check in the HF National Traffic System net and to make contacts with out of state stations. They also displayed three other radios and a homemade weather station. Lee County ARES enjoyed a great breakfast prepared by the Blue VFD and meeting the with the Blue VFD members and the public. In fact, Lee County ARES was able to get five visitors very much interests to get their license and maybe join.

After the event was over, we were shown the new relief trailer donated to the Blue VFD and were invited to add radios in it to help with backup radio communications.
