Lee Co ARES Monthly Meeting, March 20, 2022
Lee County ARES met at Elm Creek Cafe. We welcomed two new members. After a short business meeting members discussed a plan of action to overcome problems with the van mast. We discussed our preparedness and readiness in case of hurricane or other incidents. We informed the group of the progress made at the EC where now the building is equipped with VHF/UHF radio communications. The EC explained the changes made to the EmComm Plan and announced the distribution to the group. The EC also shared a conversation with County Judge Elect about communications and his questions about our preparedness and explained his concerns about probable threats. We announced a class to learn how to connect and disconnect the 147.24 repeater and we discussed the swapping of repeaters. We introduced RACES to the new members, and discussed future simplex exercise for members to measure signal strength from our residences. The EC announced an incoming ARRL District 7 exercise possibly in the Fall 2022 and briefly discussed the Red Poppy Bike Ride and MS 150 Bike Ride. We shared new antennas and equipment that members built or bought, and the meeting was adjourned.
