Lee County ARES Monthly Meeting, July 17, 2022

Lee Co ARES met at Elm Creek Cafe. After a short business meeting, and a demonstration of new equipment acquired by a member, members heard the detailed reports from the Technical Committee on the performance of another HF antenna, the Chameleon Antenna, that was donated to Lee County ARES. The Team leaders in charge of the grants projects proposed possible future upgrades of the EmComm trailer that is now about ready for use, and reported on the van and on the progress on the EOC project.

We heard also detailed ideas from the Outreach Committee to present the new equipment to the County officials, the cities, and the schools of Lee County, as well as to the Boy Scouts in the Fall.

The group discussed Hamshack Hotline, AREDN, and Cisco phones and hamshack apps. We explored and chose a different way of paging members for regular meetings and nets as well as for emergencies.

We discussed whether to acquire a license for VARA for Lee County ARES, and upcoming Winlink exercises. We finally revisited chain of command and possible hurricane response.
