LeeCARES met on December 19, 2021 at Elm Creek Cafe. It started with an excellent presentation by James NA5RC about different kind of radios and repeaters, how they work, and how they can be linked with Allstar. Following a business meeting, we discussed our recent meeting at the EOC to install the first equipment and we heard from the Outreach Committee plans for a demonstration to be held in Lexington in the near future. The Finance Committee proposed a software for better bookkeeping. We commented on the first Multi-County SKYWARN Net that LeeCARES successfully organized and held on December 4 in honor of SKYWARN Appreciation Day linking repeaters in three counties and allowing operators from seven counties to participate. We discussed to add radio equipment to other requesting agencies. We confirmed plans for Winter Field Day and we nominated and elected Board Members. Finally we admired Calvin’s recently completed radio go-kit with VHF/UHF and HF voice and digital capabilities, and including GPS.
