LeeCARES Monthly meeting, January 2026

We had a long and productive meeting today. We got to know the soon-to-be new EC for Bastrop Co ARES and a colleague very much interested to be part of Bastrop ARES, specializing in SKYWARN nets and weather. We discussed about the trailer needing new batteries, and we considered VarAc as an EmComm tool. We discussed interoperability, especially with a Sergeant of a local agency asking what would happen should an emergency communication happen and how we would provide him on the field with support. We explored ways to integrate our income with fundraising. We also made a plan to contact communities to install GMRS repeaters. We also talked about testing heliax that we have and a second plan if the heliax is ruined. We made the final plans for Winter Field Day, and briefly discussed way to reach out to the public to let them know of our service. We are about to finally the updates of our EmComm Plan.
