LeeCARES Monthly Meeting August, 18, 2024

LeeCARES welcomed a guest today who became an amateur radio operator recently. We discussed the sale of equipment and the purchase of a duplexer for an UHF repeater donated recently. We were informed on details of the future AUXCOMM Multi Mode Net. We received updated about the EOC and Sheriff’s Office, the EmComm trailer, backup-solar power and discussed to resume our ARDEN project. We were notified of an inquiry by another ARES group to see our trailer and we welcomed the idea by possibly planning a demonstration of our trailer capabilities. We also laid the ground for a future exercise to test radios and skills to be conducted in Lee and maybe in an adjacent county, with the permission of the local EC there. We were notified of the enforcement by the FCC of the rule not to link GRMS repeaters. Finally we discussed the future installation of towers on members’ properties.
