LeeCARES Meets to Consider Contingency Plans

LeeCARES met on Wednesday March 7 with Lee Co.Chef Deputy McCOY to brainstorm on contingency plans to provide emergency backup communications to deputies and other First Responders. They also discussed EMPs and CMEs and how to back-up and harden LeeCARES equipment to make sure to provide communications to Public Officials and First Responders no matter the nature of the emergency. The meeting generated another meeting lead by Tim K5TBS of Round Rock on Wed. 13 for members to know more about EMP and CME. After being introduced to the subject and made themselves acquainted with the CISA EMP documentation online, they decided to start a series of meeting with more subject matter experts. More meetings on the subject are to be scheduled in the near future with other experts discuss the matter further with Lee Co. ARES members.
