Lee Co. ARES Monthly Meeting, March 15, 2026

The meeting focused on a comprehensive training session led by Jim K5KTF on GR Level 3 radar software, covering its features, configurations, and practical applications for weather monitoring. Jim demonstrated how to install and use the software, explained different radar products and settings, and showed examples of analyzing historical weather events including tornadoes and severe storms. The session included live demonstrations of various features like base reflectivity, storm relative velocity, and the ability to download historical radar data from the National Weather Service. Following the training, the conversation ended with brief administrative updates including treasury reports and technical committee matters regarding the Lexington repeater installation and other local amateur radio activities.
