Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications skills for the public when disaster strikes. Every licensed amateur radio operator is eligible to apply for membership in ARES. Training may be required or desired to participate fully in ARES. Because ARES is an Amateur Radio program, only licensed radio amateurs are eligible for membership.

Lee County ARES was honored to be invited to the 2023 Springfest supporting the Blue Volunteer Fire Department. The event was a lot of fun and well attended. A good number of interested people came to see our display of mobile portable radios and our display about weather-caused emergencies and how to overcome them. Our display attracted quite a few kids who learned to “say” their name in CW and got to keep the paper to prove it. Below are a few pics during setting up early in the day and the first few visitors.
